MINUTES OF A MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 13, 2018

AT CEDAR COMMUNITY HALL

 

PRESENT:  Armando Dos Santos, Bruce Rowland, Ted Girard, Brian March, Patricia Zogar

The meeting was called to order at 7:32 p.m., Armando Dos Santos in the chair

Armando read the minutes of the meeting of January 9.  Brian pointed out that the amount of the grant given as $4200 should have been $4800.  Moved by Patricia, seconded by Brian and carried, that the minutes be approved as corrected.

Correspondence:  Armando reported receipt of a cheque in the amount of $7200 from the estate of Helen Ruth Martin.  Armando reported that our current bank balance is approximately $20,000.  Approximately $5,000 is payable for the lights.  Revenue from Murder Mystery was $3240 and projected profit approximately $1800.

The Murder Mystery dinner show was very successful and Armando expressed thanks to Brian March, Moira Fox and all the actors and volunteers.

An entry form has been prepared for the One Act Play Festival in June.  Armando is aware of 4 entries so far and is aiming for 9.   Bruce will post the form on our web page.  The deadline will be April 21.

Dates for “The Green Room” by Brian March are October 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 & 20.  Auditions will be in May.

The Christmas event of two sketches (Brian March) and a radio show (Barry Baker) is booked for December 6, 7 & 8. Hall is booked and directors appointed.  Bruce requested details in order to post on the web page.

For spring 2019, Armando would like to direct “Outside Mullingar” by John Patrick Shanley and will hold auditions in August for April 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 & 20 performances

Armando will book a Beer and Burger at the Wheatsheaf for late April

Ted reported that Kathleen has provided all the necessary information and the application for charitable status is underway.

Bruce reported that the dimmer pack has been repaired and returned and will be installed tomorrow.  The only expense has been the cost of one way shipping. Two of the heat sensors were defective and all three have been replaced.   He also reported that all the LED lights are up and running.

Bruce suggested that we need to be planning for either a new lighting board or new computer/software and a MIDI interface which would allow one operator to run both lights and sound.  It was suggested that we could apply for a regional district grant for this.

Moved by Ted, seconded by Brian and carried, that Armando be authorized to purchase a dehumidifier for an amount up to $500,.
